Symptom

The Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) fails to show or change settings with number suffix under VMware.

For example:

  PXE.NicPortPxeMode.1
iSCSI.MacAddress.1
PXE.NicPortPxeMode.1

Affected configurations

The system is configured with at least one of the following:

  • Advanced Settings Utility, any version

This tip is not system specific.

This tip is not option specific.

Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Solution

This behavior will be corrected in a future release of Advanced Settings Utility (ASU).

The target date for this release is scheduled for end of second quarter 2013.

The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

  • http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/

Workaround

Change these settings using the ASU Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) interface.

or

Change these settings using the F1 menu.
