SNMPv1 fails after AC powercycle with 2 CMMs - IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis (8721, 8724)

Symptom

The Chassis Management Module (CMM) may not respond to Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) version 1 requests, after an AC power cycle, if two CMMs are installed.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

• Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 8721, any model
• Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 8724, any model

The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:

• Flex System Chassis Management Module, Option part number 68Y7029, any Replacement part number (CRU)

This tip is not software specific.

The following system firmware level(s) are affected:

• CMM Version 1.20.2 Build ID: 2PET10I

Solution

This issue will be corrected in a future release of CMM firmware.

The target date for the release is scheduled for fourth quarter 2012.

Workaround

Reboot the primary CMM.
