UpdateXpress System Pack Installer (UXSPI) fails to update the firmware of QLogic Dual-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ Embedded Adapter for IBM System x, on VMware vSphere 5.0, 5.0U1 and 5.1. An error with return code 212 is logged. This update works if UXSPI is run on Linux or Microsoft Windows.

The qlgc_fw_cna_sysx-4.09.73_vmware_32-64 firmware for the QLogic 10 Gigabit SFP+ SR Optical Transceiver is affected.
The system has the symptom described above.

UXSPI failed to update the firmware of QLogic 10 Gigabit SFP+ Dual-Port Mezzanine Card on VMware vSphere 5.0, 5.0U1 and 5.1, with return code 212.
This error occurs because there is an issue with the QLogic firmware update manager (QLogic provider) running on VMware ESXi. The fix will come from QLogic.
If users want to update the firmware of QLogic Dual-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ Embedded Adapter for IBM System x, they can run UXSPI to update the firmware on Microsoft Windows or Linux operation systems, which UXSPI supports.
