Incorrect values set in contact and location from learned settings - IBM Servers

  • Applicable countries and regions

Source

RETAIN tip: H207267

Symptom

Contact and Location fields in Integrated Management Module (IMM) may not be set to the proper values and may have default values instead.

If an extended IMM pattern is being included in the Server Pattern, the extended IMM pattern must be edited and ensure that 'SNMP Contact' and 'SNMP Location' are set to blank (found under IMM --> Network Settings Interface), otherwise the fields will conflict with the same settings found in the System Information pattern.

On deployment, this will result in the fields being defaulted to Contact and Location values instead of the desired values.

Affected configurations

The system is configured with at least one of the following:

  • FSM - Configuration Patterns, version 1.2.0, any version

This tip is not system specific.

This tip is not option specific.

Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Please see the compatibility page for more information: http://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/

Solution

The fix will be distributed as part of an IBM Flex System Manager (FSM) update package.

The target date for this release is scheduled for second quarter 2013.

The file will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

  http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/

Workaround

Select a value of 'no pattern selected' for the Extended Settings Pattern element, or go into the IMM web interface after deployment to correct the value.

Additional information

Setting Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Contact and Location reinitializes the server Contact and Location fields to their default values.
