RETAIN tip: H207762
Symptom
For the IBM Flex System Chassis Management Module, Option part number 68Y7029, (CMM) running firmware 10I:
- 'stcme'/secure TCPCMDMODE was turned off and settings are not saved on a user's system.
If secure TCPCMDMODE is off, then the IBM BladeCenter Open Fabric Manager (BOFM) server will not be able to connect to the CMM. A CMM configured to use BOFM cannot connect to it and the user will be notified of the connection failure on the BOFM GUI.
Affected configurations
The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- IBM BladeCenter Open Fabric Manager 1.0, any version
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- Flex System Chassis Management Module, Option part number 68Y7029, any replacement part number (CRU)
This tip is not system specific.
The I10 firmware for the CMM is affected.
Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.
Please see the compatibility page for more information: http://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/
Solution
This behavior will be corrected in a future release of CMM firmware.
The target date for this release is scheduled for second quarter 2013.
The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:
Workaround
From the CMM's Command Line Interface (CLI):
| | tcpcmdmode -T MM[x] -status 0 tcpcmdmode -T MM[x] -t 0 tcpcmdmode -T MM[x] -sstatus 5 ports -stcme on -T MM[x] where: x is the affected CMM's bay number |
The workaround will fix both the connection and settings issues.
Additional information
After issuing these commands, secure TCPCMDMODE is enabled and BOFM can connect with the CMM.
