Solution

If users prefer to use MSM v13.01.04.00 or v13.04.04.00 in Japanese, it is required to install the MegaRAID Storage Manager v13.01.04-JP or v13.04.04-JP Japanese package that can be downloaded from the IBM web site.

The file is available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

Workaround

If users prefer to use MSM v13.01.04.00 or v13.04.04.00 in English, one of the following workarounds is required:

Before applying workarounds, make sure MSM GUI window is closed.

Windows operating system:

  1. Stop MSM Framework service by using Command Line Interface (CLI) or Graphical User Interface (GUI).

Run 'net stop MSMFramework' on Windows command prompt, or use server manager GUI to stop MSMFramework service.
  2. Go to the $MSMHOME\Common\Languages folder where $MSMHOME is 'C:\Program Files(x86)\MegaRAID Storage Manager' by default.

Users will find two folders 'en' and 'ja', with the 'ja' folder being empty.
  3. Delete 'ja' folder.
  4. Go to the $MSMHOME\Languages folder. Users will also find two folders 'en' and 'ja', with the 'ja' folder being empty.
  5. Delete 'ja' folder.
  6. Start MSM Framework service

Run 'net start MSMFramework' on Windows command prompt, or use server manager GUI to start MSMFramework service.
  7. Start popup process.

Go to the $MSMHOME\MegaPopup folder, then double-click 'Popup.exe'.

Linux operating system:

  1. Stop MSM Framework service.

Run '/etc/init.d/vivaldiframeworkd stop' command on terminal.
  2. Go to the $MSMHOME\Common\Languages folder where $MSMHOME is '/usr/local/MegaRAID Storage Manager' by default.

Users will find two folders 'en' and 'ja', with the 'ja' folder being empty.
  3. Delete 'ja' folder by running 'rm -r' command.
  4. Go to the $MSMHOME\Languages folder. Users will also find two folders 'en' and 'ja', with the 'ja' folder being empty.
  5. Delete 'ja' folder by running 'rm -r' command.
  6. Start MSM Framework service.

      Run '/etc/init.d/vivaldiframeworkd start'
  7. Start popup process.

Go to the $MSMHOME\MegaPopup folder, then run './popup and'.

Additional information

The MSM application v13.01.04.00 or v13.04.04.00 creates 'en' and 'ja' folders under $MSMHOME/Common/Languages and $MSMHOME/Languages upon installation, and 'ja' folders are empty.

MSM v13.01.04.00 or v13.04.04.00 uses the 'ja' folders for MSM Japanese package on Japanese Operating Systems (OS). If the MegaRAID Storage Manager v13.01.04-JP or v13.04.04-JP Japanese Package is not installed, the issue described above occurs because the required translated resource files cannot be located in the 'ja' folder.

Installing the MSM Japanese Package file version v13.01.04-JP or v13.04.04-JP resolves this issue.
