Overview

The ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit is a collection of system-configuration tools and installation scripts that you can use to deploy software to your IBM eServer or xSeries server in a repeatable, predictable manner. When used with IBM ServerGuide and IBM UpdateXpress, the ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit provides a total solution for deploying IBM eServer or xSeries servers in an unattended mode.

Limitations:
- Your Virtual Disks that are configured by ServerGuide for write-back might be temporarily running in write-throuth mode. This is caused by the battery being charged, missing or bad. Please allow the battery to charge for 24 hours before evaluating the battery for replacement.
- For the installation of Microsoft Windows for Storage Area Network (SAN) boot, there can be unexpected results when the storage, which the Windows Operating System (OS) will be installed, is presented with multiple paths to one or more hosts.
- To avoid this problem, configure only one path to the storage that is used for the installation of Windows OS and disconnect all other active paths. For more information, refer to Retain Tip H207009.

The Toolkit provides sample jobs for Altiris Deployment Solution for hardware configuration and OS deployment using Windows PE. The Scripting Toolkit supports Altiris Deployment Solution 6.9 SP1 - SP5 and the Hewlett-Packard Rapid Deployment Pack (RDP) versions 3.81 and 3.82, 3.83, 6.0 and 6.2. The Rapid Deployment Pack includes Altiris Deployment Solution, the Hewlett-Packard Scripting Toolkit, and Windows PE 2.1 boot environments packaged together.

- ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit Linux Edition(LTK) provides support of DUD(Drive Update Disk) on RHEL and SUSE, but VMware. In other words, LTK will be able to deploy RHEL & SUSE even if prerequisite device drivers (for NIC, RAID and FC) are not included in the redistribution CD of RHEL & SUSE. But LTK can not support to deploy VMware when prerequisite device drivers (for NIC, RAID and FC) are missing.
Limitations:
- You might need to change the Lun discovery at Brocade bios (Ctrl+b or Alt+b) to "Flash Values" or "FirstLUN" first when deploying Linux OS in legacy boot mode to external storage device connected via Broadcade 16Gb Fibre Channel Mezz card.

The ServerGuide Scripting Toolkit, Linux Edition (Linux Scripting Toolkit) enables you to tailor and build custom hardware deployment solutions. It provides hardware configuration and Linux operating system (OS) installation for IBM System x, BladeCenter, and iData-Plex hardware. The Linux Scripting Toolkit uses a console to simplify the steps in creating, customizing, and deploying hardware configurations and Network Operating System (NOS) deployments.
