Additional information
The ESS web site allows you to register and administer customer numbers associated with your software products and software maintenance products associated to your hardware serial numbers. Documentation shipped with your i5/OS software order will provide you with the information required to register at the ESS web site and overview available support. Once registered, the following ESS applications provide functional support for you to access and manage the software products you have licensed from IBM: software entitlements, software keys, software release upgrade, electronic software download, and software maintenance inventory.
Entitled Software Support (ESS)
The IBM Pre-upgrade Verification tool for i5/OS is an "as-is" tool that runs on a Windows client and checks data on the System i server to ensure that all the necessary requirements are completed prior to an upgrade.

Network install using Network File system (NFS)
Required information for upgrading IBM i software from virtual optical storage using the Network File System (NFS).

Preventative Service Planning (PSP) information
Lists Cumulative PTF packages, high impact/pervasive problems (HIPERs), Service Packs and Group PTFs for installation, upgrades and ongoing maintenance.
Capacity on Demand
Capacity on Demand (CoD) offer clients the ability to non-disruptively activate processors and memory. CoD also gives you the ability to temporarily activate capacity to meet intermittent performance needs, to activate additional capacity on a trial basis, or even activate advanced functions when needed.
Upgrade planning template
To help ensure the success of your upgrade project, an end-to-end planning template is now available for download. The template contains a chronological list of the major stages and tasks that should be considered in your upgrade project.
IBM i Resaves
Resaves provide support for new hardware, critical fixes in the system install media, and a reduced "total install time" by reducing the time to install PTF CUM packages.
Virtualization with IBM i, PowerVM and Power Systems
Integrating the operating systems, middleware, database, security and storage into one system means that your infrastructure should be flexible, scalable and easy to use.
System i software product lifecycle dates
Information about IBM software products which have either reached End-of-Support, or have announced End-of-Support.
Hardware model availability
Locate information on the lifespan of System i, iSeries, and AS/400 models. The model life begins at initial availability and ends with the withdrawal of maintenance support for the model.
