Symptom

In IBM ToolsCenter Suite (TCS) version 9.22, when TCS has been started and a TCS browser window is opened, executing run.bat under the TCS working directory will open a new TCS browser window. The two co-existing browser windows will cause an unexpected result.

The system is configured with at least one of the following:

  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server R2, x64 Edition, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server for 32-bit Servers, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, Datacenter Edition, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, EE x64, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, x64 Edition, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Datacenter 32-bit, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Datacenter 64-bit, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Enterprise 32-bit, any service pack
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Enterprise 64-bit, any service pack

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 base install, update 7, update 8
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 base install, update 1, update 2
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Base Install, Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2, Service Pack 3, Service Pack 4
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 for AMD64/EM64T, Base Install
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Base Install, Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2

Solution

The issue was fixed in ToolsCenter Swite 9.50 and later.

Workaround

  1. Users can click run.bat in the TCS working directory to open a TCS browser page to start this application.
  2. If users want to start a new TCS application, they need to close the opening TCS browser page first, then select run.bat under TCS working directory again to launch a new TCS application.
