RETAIN tip: H207004
Symptom
The Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) may show a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) setting as configurable when in fact it is not available because of a dependency on other settings.
For example,
| | It is impossible to set DevicesandIOPorts.RemoteConsole without the setting DevicesandIOPorts.COMPort1=Disable |
It appears from the ASU interface that the setting was changed as expected when it actually did not take effect.
Affected configurations
The system is configured with at least one of the following:
- Advanced Settings Utility, any version

This tip is not option specific.
Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Solution
ASU has corrected the assessment method on OEM in the IBM ToolsCenter Suite 12D release.
The file can be downloaded at the following URL:
Workaround
Users can set UEFI settings from the F1 menu.
Additional information
Previous versions of ASU supported checking dependency conditions on Integrated Management Module II (IMM2) systems, but not on Integrated Management Module (IMM) systems.
For Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) IMM2 system, ASU used the wrong assessment method, so ASU considered an OEM IMM2 system as an IMM system. As a result, ASU did not check dependency conditions on the OEM IMM2 system.
