PME PS and DPS settings not applied using the 'fuelg' CLI command - IBM Flex Systems

Source

RETAIN tip: H207171

Symptom

The Chassis Management Module (CMM) Command Line Interface (CLI) fuelg command might not apply the following settings to compute nodes:

  • pme (power management and capping mode)
  • ps (static low power saver mode)
  • dps (dynamic power saver)

Example:

  fuelg -pme on -T system:blade[6]

Affected configurations

The system can be any of the following IBM servers:

  • Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 7893, any model
  • Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 8721, any model
  • Flex System Enterprise Chassis, type 8724, any model

The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM options:

  • Flex System Chassis Management Module, option part number 68Y7029, any replacement part number (CRU)

This tip is not software specific.

The Build ID: 2PET10K firmware for the Chassis Management Module (CMM) is affected.

The system has the symptom described above.

Solution

This behavior was corrected in the IBM Chassis Management Module (CMM) firmware v1.50.0D [2PET12D] GA4.

The file is available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

Workaround

The fuelg Command Line Interface (CLI) command can be used to verify if the settings were applied. If they were not applied, issue the command again or use the Web interface.

Note: A compute node must be turned on in order to configure these settings.
