  • Applicable countries and regions

Source

RETAIN tip: H207216

Symptom

When using the Dynamic System Analysis (DSA) Preboot Command Line Interface (CLI) Feature on Demand (FoD) function, the Backspace key cannot be used to remove characters when entering the IBM ID password.

Affected configurations

The system is configured with at least one of the following:

  • IBM Dynamic System Analysis (DSA) Preboot 9.00, any edition

This tip is not system specific.

This tip is not option specific.

Note: This does not imply that the network operating system will work under all combinations of hardware and software.

Please see the compatibility page for more information: http://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/

Solution

This behavior is corrected in DSA v9.21, or later.

The file is available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

Workaround

Users need to make sure the password input is correct, or they can just continue the procedure with the wrong password until failure.

Users then can reprocess the installation procedure and try to input the password again.
