Symptom

Users cannot expand all links in the left panel of the Advanced Management Module (AMM) web page using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) on Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.

The expand/collapse menu function in the left navigation area of the AMM web page is controlled by JavaScript. Users must adjust a security configuration on Windows Server edition when browsing the AMM web page on IE.

Affected Configurations

The system can be any of the following IBM servers:

  • BladeCenter Chassis, type 7967, any model
  • BladeCenter E, type 8677, any model

Workaround

The JavaScript is blocked by the default security setting on Windows Server. Users can run the following procedure to turn off IE Enhanced Security Configuration (ESC) on Windows Server:

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Select Server Manager on the Start menu.

  3. Click Server Manager (Server Name) on the left navigation of the Server Manger window.

  4. In the Security Information Section, click Configure IE ESC.

  5. In the IE ESC window, turn off ESC for the Windows user, either in the Administrators or Users group.

  6. Restart IE and connect to the AMM Login page.

  7. Users should now be able to expand or collapse the menu on the left navigation bar of the AMM web page.
