RETAIN tip: H207466
When Integrated Management Module (IMM) version 1.36 Build ID: YUOOF2A is running in a single node (standalone) system with only one power supply installed, indications and entries similar to the following example can be observed:
| ||- Front and Rear Panel 'System ERROR' Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) will be illuminated. |
Note: IMM v1.34 Build ID: YUOOE3E and earlier versions do not exhibit the previous symptom.
- IMM log events associated with the previous symptom:
Redundancy Lost for "Power Group 1" has asserted
- Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) event log (with Severity = Major):
Power unit / power domain 129 (Power Unit); Assertion; (additional info: sensor class:discrete; generic;) Redundancy Lost Entered any non-redundant state, including Nonredundant: Insufficient Resources.
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
Solution for SAP HANA Appliance, Type 7143, any model
| ||System x3850 X5, Type 7143, any model |
System x3850 X5, Type 7145, any model
System x3850 X5, Type 7146, any model
System x3850 X5, Type 7191, any model
System x3950 X5, Type 7143, any model
System x3950 X5, Type 7145, any model

This tip is not option specific.
The following system firmware level is affected:
IMM Build ID: YUOOF2A
This behavior has been addressed and released beginning in IMM firmware version 1.38 Build ID: YUOOF2B.
The file is available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:
IBM recommends installing a second power supply to provide redundancy.
If the non-redundancy message is the only error event logged, then the symptoms can be ignored in a single power supply configuration.
This symptom is an inadvertent consequence of the changes made to the IMM version 1.36 firmware.
The fix does is to not illuminate the LEDs when only one power supply is installed.
By adding an additional power supply, the system avoids non-redundancy and does not illuminate the LEDs or log the error messages.
Note: When using the affected IMM version, there is no way to turn off manually the front or rear panel System Error LEDs.
