NTP server synchronization problem with IMM Web GUI - IBM System x

Symptom

When setting the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server on the Integrated Management Module (IMM) Web Graphical User Interface (GUI), if users use the 'time.nist.gov' (NTP server domain name) in 'NTP server host name or IP address' setting, the server IMM date and time will not be synchronized.

The following system firmware levels are affected: IMM Build ID: YUOOE9B and earlier versions

Solution

This behavior been corrected in a IMM firmware code release yuoog2c, version 1.42.

The file will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:

  http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/

Workaround

To workaround the issue, use the NTP server Internet Protocol (IP) address 12.10.191.251 as input in:

  IMM Date and Time -> NTP server host name or IP address

The time will be synchronized.

Additional information

The issue is caused by the incorrect behavior of IMM code.
